Meet the Executive Board
The Executive Board of Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño de UCLA is composed of current UCLA undergraduate students who identify as Oaxacan. The Executive Board recruits members every year and consists of a year-long commitment, starting Spring quarter until the end of the Spring quarter the following year. The Board positions aim to prepare students to become campus leaders.

Internal Executive - Sarai Rojas
SARAI ROJAS (she/her/hers) is a third-year student double-majoring in Political Science and Chicana/o and Central American Studies. She is passionate about public policy, with a focus on advancing equity for immigrant and Indigenous communities and ensuring historically marginalized voices are represented in decision-making spaces.

At UCLA, Sarai serves as Internal Executive for Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño (GEO), where she organizes cultural programming and advocates for Oaxaqueño and Indigenous students. She was recently appointed to the ASUCLA Board of Directors as an Undergraduate Student Representative, overseeing an $80M student-run organization that serves more than 45,000 students. She has also worked in student government, helping establish the Latinx Caucus and advancing initiatives for a Latinx Success Center. Most recently, Sarai completed the Pat McCabe Impact Fellowship with the Group Effort Initiative, supporting nonprofit operations focused on equity and access.

Sarai is a proud daughter of Oaxaqueño immigrants and grew up in Vista, CA.

Financial Director - Kevin Avendaño Sernas
Kevin Avendaño Sernas (he/him) is a second-year student majoring in Business Economics. He currently serves as the Financial Director for Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño, where he supports initiatives that highlight Oaxacan culture and foster community among students of Oaxacan descent.
At UCLA, Kevin is an intern for the Bruin Finance Society, where he develops skills in financial analysis and professional networking. Kevin is also a fellow in the Management Leadership for Tomorrow Career Prep Program, where he is building the foundation for a career in finance and investment management.
Kevin is the proud son of Mexican immigrants from Oaxaca and grew up in Gilroy, California. His upbringing and community experiences inspire his commitment to promoting educational access, financial literacy, and cultural representation.

Fundraising Director - Adriana Lopez
Adriana Lopez (she/her) is a third-year student majoring in Economics. She is passionate about celebrating her cultural heritage and fostering opportunities for underserved students. Adriana serves as Fundraising Director at Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño (GEO), where she actively works to uplift the Oaxacan community through her service and leadership.
Adriana also serves as Head of External Affairs at Moneythink, where she teaches financial literacy to high school students in Los Angeles. She hopes to promote success amongst every student and uplift them through her mentorship.
Growing up in a working-class family with strong Oaxacan roots, Adriana has a deep understanding of the value of cultural pride. She joined GEO to continue celebrating her heritage and helping Oaxacan students navigate higher education. Through her various roles, Adriana strives to empower her community by bridging gaps in knowledge, resources, and opportunity.

Digital Communications Director - Jafet Martinez
Jafet Martinez Sandoval (he/him/his) is a third-year student double majoring in Mathematics and Communication. He currently serves as the Digital Communications Director for GEO where he creates digital content and leads online engagement to enhance public outreach and community connections.
Additionally, as a Social Media Intern at the UCLA Undocumented Student Program, Jafet designs digital material to expand visibility, share vital resources, and uplift undocumented students. He also serves as a UCLA tour guide where he primarily works with students from underrepresented, low-income communities in hopes of inspiring them to pursue higher education. Jafet also engages in volunteer work through food drives at his local church and tutoring mathematics.
As the son of immigrant parents, Jafet has learned to value the smallest things and to overcome any legal and academic barriers with determination. These experiences fuel his commitment to uplifting students with similar backgrounds and advancing educational equity.

Marketing Diretor - Cynthia Sierra
Cynthia Sierra (she/her) is a second-year student majoring in Biochemistry. She currently serves as the Marketing Director for Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño, where she helps create posts to increase GEO Network and update the website and keep content up to date.
At UCLA, Cynthia is also a pRHOud sister of Phi Lambda Rho Sorority Inc., where she helps provide a lifelong sisterhood based on facilitating the advancement of women of color through higher education.
Cynthia is the daughter of Mexican immigrants from Oaxaca, borned and raised in Koreatown, Los Angeles, California.

Community & City Outreach Director - Naydeleen Ortiz
Naydeleen Ortiz (she/her/hers) is a third-year student Pre-Psychobiology major and Spanish minor. She is serving as the Community & City Outreach Director
At UCLA, Naydeleen was a participant in the UCLA program for Excellence in Education and Research in the Sciences (PEERS) for her first and second year. Naydeleen is also a member and a part of 2025-2026 Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño Executive Board serving as the Community and City Outreach Director.
She is passionate about farmworker rights and social justice. Naydeleen has previously and continues to be involved in organizations that focus on said areas and is persistently in search for opportunities that will allow her to expand her knowledge.

Community Advocacy Director - Odalis Cruz
Odalis M. Cruz (she/her/hers) is a third-year student majoring in Political Science. The community advocacy Director at UCLA’s GEO, she is passionate about creating a safe space for Oaxaqueñ students.
At UCLA, Odalis is a writer and a member of UCLA’s La Gente writing and radio teams. Where she works to discuss issues affecting Latine students on campus and the greater LA area. She is the secretary for Soñando Sin Miedo where she works to make resources such as scholarship, internship and academic opportunities accessible to low-income marginalized communities.

K-12 Education Outreach Director - Andrea Robles
Andrea Robles-Masas (she/her/hers) is a third-year student majoring in Psychobiology with a minor in Chicano/a Studies.
At UCLA, Andrea is part of Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño where she currently serves as the K-12 Education Director. During the school year, Andrea likes to volunteer at NDMP about the importance of donating stem blood cells for patients battling blood cancers, and being part of the registry to donate. In addition, she attends LCCM meetings, events, and enjoys volunteering at health fairs. She is passionate about healthcare accessibility and hopes to pursue a career in medicine as a physician assistant.
She was born and raised in Los Angeles, but Andrea is also a proud Oaxaqueña and her indigenous roots in Mexico.

Higher Education Outreach Director - Kelly Bautista
Kelly A. Bautista (She/Her/Hers) is a third-year majoring in Human Biology and Society with a minor in Chicano Studies. Kelly serves as the Higher Education Director for Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño dedicated to providing resources and opportunities to students with roots in Oaxaca to pursue higher education.
Kelly is an active member of Latinx & Chicanx for Community Medicine, where she actively participates in health fairs for the Latino Student Health project and community service for the Midnight Mission. She is also an active member of Flying Samaritan’s, a non-profit providing access to health services in Rancho Escondido and Colonia Margarita in Tijuana Mexico. In her spare time she volunteers at Cedars Sinai medical center as a TCAB volunteer where she helps translate for patients and assists nurses.
Kelly is passionate about bridging healthcare disparities for underserved communities which led her to intern abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico for UCLA’s Global Internship Program. Over the course of two months Kelly rotated through 8 different clinical sites where she learned social determinants of health through firsthand clinical observations.
