About

"Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño de UCLA” is a student-led and initiated organization on campus that was created to bring together the growing community of Oaxaqueños on UCLA's campus and connect with one another. Our purpose is to provide a safe space for Oaxaqueños, whether they identify as indigenous or not, to share and discuss cultures with one another and offer support as we all embark on our educational journeys.

History

Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño was originally founded in 2012 to bring to life a yearly Guelaguetza on campus for Oaxacan and non-Oaxacan communities to interact and become more aware of the traditions in Oaxacan culture, as well as issues that affect the Oaxacan community

In 2020 Oaxacan students came together and connected with alumni to reestablish the existence of  Grupo Estudiantil Oaxaqueño, back on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles. The organization since then has been established as an organization on campus to bring together Oaxacan students.
